Evaluation of the 7 questions

Music magazine evaluation 1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?  In my opinion, my magazine does conform to the codes and conventions of traditional hip-hop / R&B magazines. I say this because I drew upon a lot of inspiration from typical magazines such as VIBE and FADER which are R&B magazines which challenge conventions of other media products in the industry. Whilst researching VIBE magazine in particular I learnt that they felt very strongly about self expression and accepting people no matter if they conform to social norms or not and I feel that their magazine is all about defying social expectations and norms and  expressing an alternative lifestyle and feeling comfortable and confident in that. I also say this knowing that African Americans are a ethnic minority group which is he target audience of these magazines, which shows that these sort of media products exist not only to gain success

Target audience feedback

Target audience feedback I asked my peers to assess my magazine and tell me what they thought what went well and what they thought I could improve on. I used my peers because my magazine was aimed at 16-30-year-olds so I wanted to see if the magazine appealed to that age range.  Hollie Rowlands-  Quality of image and layout design (Front cover) WWW-You used a really high-quality image of the artist and the image shows a direct address on the cover which makes it really eye catching.  EBI- It is quite plain by itself on the page so maybe you could try adding different images as well not just one because it can show the details of what's in the magazine.  Quality of images and layout design (Contents Page) WWW- Your images are well placed on the page they stick to a colour scheme which makes the page look like it flows and is well structured.  EBI- You could make heading bolder to catch the eye more or try using a double page to create more room for text on the page.  Qual

Music Magazine Plan – Razor (Cutting edge new music)  Genre: Hip-hop. Target Audience: 15-30 year olds. Religion: Any. Education: Secondary school/ College/ University. Employment: Possibly a weekend job. Marital Status: Most likely not married. Wage: Little if not anything. Demographic: My magazine is aimed at middle class 15-30 year olds and it is gender fluid; because most teenagers don’t have a huge income that’s why I’m aiming it at the middle-class population, but also stereotypically the hip-hop genre is quite a poor genre with not a lot of money invested. Stereotypically the race of the reader of these magazines are black however more white raced people are starting to listen to this type of music. The audience would like to see topics such as what’s going on in the rap industry, what newcomers are around and what’s happening with certain rappers also images of new things that rappers have bought, e.g. cars, houses. I think the color scheme

Music magazine feature article analysis

Image
Analysis of the lead feature article In Vibe’s November 2004 issue Nelly was their cover star. He also had an 8 page spread feature article in the magazine. The first double page is two images which one of which is of Nelly. It had reference to the image on the front cover with a similar image of him with black writing over his topless frame. He is making the letter ‘X’ out of his arms which is similar to the shape on the other page which had text written in it saying – “MARKED MAN he’s been called everything from a misogynist to a sell-out. Ta-nahisi Coates discovers the secret behind Nelly’s transformation from hometown bad boy to pop star. And you thought he was just another MC.” – The words MARKED MAN are in capitals and in an orange colour which contrasts the black and white background, MARKED MAN is also a play on words which in the images he is “marked” in black writing.   The next double page is the beginning of the article which starts with a monotone image of the
